Superintendent's Message
Since my decision in
2001 to come to Jim Thorpe, and my start date of July 3, 2001, as
your superintendent of schools, I have felt most welcomed to the Jim
Thorpe Area School District. Now, it is my privilege on the behalf
of the school district and the Board of Education to welcome you. As
the new school year begins, I hope you and your children discover
together the joys of learning, and in particular, take advantages of
the many opportunities the Jim Thorpe Area School District affords
our students both in the academic area and in extracurricular
activities.
The Jim Thorpe Area School District enjoys an outstanding
reputation as one of the finest public school systems in the nation.
Additionally, we are standards drive, meaning your children will
learn from the most current curriculum and methodologies available,
and meet quality benchmarks that have been established by recognized
national and state entities. We are excited about our exemplary
programs at JTASD, and invite you to come into our schools,

Mission Statement
Palmerton schools are
friendly communities of enthusiastic young people and supporting
adults.
Palmerton Area School District and its community is committed to
the success of all students in academics, athletics, art, music, and
technology. We are fortunate to have a staff of caring, quality
educators who are dedicated to our mission. Their focus is on
growth, achievement, and success for our twenty-two hundred
students, K-12.
We are very proud of our enthusiastic, well behaved students,
highly dedicated and very talented teachers and support staff, and
supportive school board.
Palmerton is located sixteen (16) miles north of Allentown, PA
and one (1) hour south of Scranton, PA off Exit 34-Mahoning Valley
(New Dual#34/74)-of the Northeast Extension of the Pennsylvania
Turnpike. (Directions)
Our Carbon County school district is comprised of two (2)
elementary schools, K-6, and a middle school, grades 7-8. Grades
9-12 are housed in our high school. Our young people are able to
elect technical, academic, and business curriculum. Students with
interests in a vocational career path may attend the Carbon County
Vocational-Technical School.
We continually strive to help each of our students achieve their
future dreams through a school system that remains focused on our
central mission, our students.

Superintendent's Message
Welcome to the
Weatherly Area School District where staff and administration work
together with supportive parent, community and business groups to
provide a high quality education for our students. Weatherly Area
School District (WASD) is a small, rural district located in Carbon
County in Northeastern Pennsylvania. Administration and staff pride
themselves in getting to know students on an individual basis.
Students are encouraged to participate in sports, to join
extracurricular activities and to become involved in the community.
The district has a proud tradition of our students striving to do
their best, for valuing a quality education, and of working
diligently to meet their goals.
